Institute for Diversity and Social Justice

Our approach is based equally in the hand, head, and heart. We believe that a multi-pronged approach to equity work and culturally responsive teaching leads to the most authentic and long-lasting changes, both in us as individuals and in our institutions. We believe that through participation in our institute, attendees will:

  • Gain increased sensitivity to and awareness of diversity issues to promote the creation of school environments free from the distractions of prejudice, stereotypes, and bias.

  • Enhance understanding of multicultural learning environments.

  • Demonstrate increased awareness of personal identity and implicit bias.

  • Learn how to develop curricula that are more reflective of and responsive to the diversity that exists in classrooms, schools, and communities.
