Institute for Diversity and Social Justice
Our approach is based equally in the hand, head, and heart. We believe that a multi-pronged approach to equity work and culturally responsive teaching leads to the most authentic and long-lasting changes, both in us as individuals and in our institutions. We believe that through participation in our institute, attendees will:
Gain increased sensitivity to and awareness of diversity issues to promote the creation of school environments free from the distractions of prejudice, stereotypes, and bias.
Enhance understanding of multicultural learning environments.
Demonstrate increased awareness of personal identity and implicit bias.
Learn how to develop curricula that are more reflective of and responsive to the diversity that exists in classrooms, schools, and communities.
